💻 ABOUT MATCHA DESIGN LABS

We're an endlessly curious team of creators who support a range of industries from cryptocurrency web apps to healthcare mobile apps. We design consumer-facing tech products and specialize in 3 main areas: cultivating deep user empathy, poking holes in existing user experiences, and crafting products from the ground up. We take fuzzy ideas and bring them to life. Literally.

We value freedom and radical responsibility like no other. We’re 100% remote (we love to travel and #WorkFromAnywhere). We also meet up during the year IRL to work/play together and have some fun.

🎥 ABOUT THE ROLE

🧬 WHO YOU ARE

You are an A-Player. You thrive on taking fuzzy ideas or feedback and creating actionable steps towards a solution. You value a growth-mindset, and have worked hard to cultivate that in yourself. You know how to speak “client.” If you’re presented with something new / unfamiliar, you dive into problem-solving mode fearlessly. Your first instinct is to “figure it out” and you’re always ready to be scrappy. You are thoughtful, empathetic, and full of heart.

💼 WHAT YOU'LL OWN

You’ll be owning several client relationships at Matcha Design Labs. Your #1 job will be to add massive value to our clients and communicate the product vision to our design team. You are the face of AMSD with our clients.

On a weekly basis, you’ll be in client check-in meetings and sharing the latest design updates with them and gathering feedback. You’ll then synthesize their feedback into next steps for the design team to execute and bring to life. Being an expert communicator is a must as you’ll be speaking “designer” and “client” regularly (and maybe even “developer”).

Someone who excels in this role will become a key stakeholder in Matcha Design Labs with the ability to inform strategy, select their projects, and influence the team trajectory.

Responsibilities
  • Deliverables. Coordinate the day-to-day agency deliverables to ensure client projects are presented at high quality, on time and budget and to the absolute delight of the client.
  • Project management. Beginning to end project management, and manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Understand client needs. Develop a great flair and understanding of our clients’ products, users, and how to prioritize work based on their needs.
  • UX Strategy. This role is HIGHLY strategic, so an understanding of UX/UI and product design/strategy is a must. Bonus points if you have a UX design background!
Team Player Proficiencies
  • Growth. You value growth. You always find ways to improve yourself and be the best version of yourself. Matcha Design Labs has fostered growth for all of its team members -- it’s basically a catalyst for You 2.0 (personally and professionally).
  • Reliable. You do what you say you're going to do, when you say you're going to do it.
  • Collaborative. You share feedback early and often.
  • Creative & can contribute meaningful ideas.
  • Knows when to turn on the left brain to analyze + make decisions.
  • You’re not afraid to try something you’ve never done before or something that doesn’t fit perfectly in your wheelhouse (like doing a little copywriting or editing a screen)
  • Leadership. You provide constructive feedback with love and grace and are constantly thinking of ways to help raise your teammates up.
  •  Inquisitive. You ask lots of questions before proposing solutions.
  • You are quick to admit to your mistakes and are willing to do what it takes to make it right.
Client Facing Proficiencies
  • Relationships. You build and develop meaningful relationships with our team and clients.
  • Killer organizational skills. (We are obsessed with ClickUp.)
  • Can part with your ego + take feedback. You are quick to admit to your mistakes and are willing to do what it takes to make it right.
  • Because attention to detail is a must, we’re hiding an important to-do in this bullet: please voice message @matchadesignlabs on Instagram and tell us your #1 pro-tip for dealing with clients when they don't know what they want.
  • Clear & communicative. We value having an open channel of discussion at all times. Since we are working on many projects at once, communication is the lifeblood of our team.
  • Boundaries. You hold your ground and can say no respectfully & with love when clients try to scope creep.
  • Cool, calm, and collected. You stay level-headed under pressure and deadlines. You’re not afraid to juggle many things at once.

📁 DELIVERABLE PROFICIENCIES

  • PRODUCT: Understanding of product strategy and deliverables that are part of the product development process.
  • UX/UI DESIGN: Understanding and managing of user flows, wireframing, UI design, prototyping, and tech basics.
  • USER RESEARCH: Understanding of user research and usability processes and how to synthesize feedback.

💾 TECH PROFICIENCIES

  • Design: Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Management: Google Drive, Zoom, Loom, Toggl, Slack

*If you lack proficiency in these tools/platforms, you must be willing to learn on your own time.

🏝PERKS

  • Unlimited Vacation.
  • Bi-Weekly Virtual Team Happy Hours which often include fun virtual games, tarot card pulls, talking about life, exchanging book recs, and laughing a lot.
  • Annual Team Retreats. Post-pandemic, we’ll be reinstating our yearly team getaways to places like Tulum, Austin, Joshua Tree, and more!
  • Development Workshops + Training provided quarterly on areas of the team’s interest like: leading meetings, creative brainstorming, diversity & inclusivity, and more.
  • Fully-Remote Team Culture. We are a borderless and global team. We love our freedom and the ability to work from anywhere!
